How to layer Epicutis, morning to night
The exact order — cleanser to SPF — for a routine that actually works.

Eight excellent products applied in the wrong order will underperform eight products applied thoughtfully.
With a line like Epicutis, where formulas are built to layer onto each other rather than compete, the order isn't a minor detail — it's most of the reason a $250 serum performs the way it does.
The rule that makes layering simple
Thinnest to thickest, always. Water-based mists and treatments go on before oils and creams, and sunscreen always goes last.
Skip a step out of order and you're not getting a “double dose” — you're usually just blocking the next product from absorbing.
This isn't specific to Epicutis, either — the American Academy of Dermatology recommends the same general sequence for any routine: cleanse, treat, moisturize, and finish with sunscreen last.
Morning routine
Cleanse
Oil Cleanser, even if you didn't wear anything overnight. Skin produces oil and sheds cells while you sleep; starting with a clean base is what lets everything after it actually absorb.
Balance
Hydrobiome Mist, misted onto damp skin to support the skin barrier before treatment actives go on.
Treat
Lipid Serum, applied while skin is still slightly damp from the mist.
Hydrate
Hyvia® Crème to seal everything underneath it.
Protect
Lipid Shield SPF 30, always last, always non-negotiable. A tinted mineral sunscreen is the step that protects every other step you just did.
Evening routine
Cleanse
Oil Cleanser again, to actually remove SPF and the day's buildup.
Targeted treatment
Rotate in a concern-specific step: Arctigenin Brightening Treatment for tone and pigmentation, or Hydrobiome Serum if breakouts and an imbalanced microbiome are the bigger issue. Not both on the same night — pick the concern that's actually active right now.
Treat
Lipid Serum.
Hydrate
Hyvia® Crème.
Where the masks fit in
The Lipid Recovery Mask for Face, the eye version, and the neck & décolleté version aren't daily steps — they're a concentrated version of the Lipid Serum, meant for one to two nights a week when skin needs a faster reset. Use them after cleansing, before your regular serum and crème, and let them sit for the time listed on the packaging before layering anything on top.
Don't skip the body
Skin below the jawline gets the same daily stress and none of the routine. Lipid Body Treatment brings the same lipid technology as the Lipid Serum to the rest of you — apply it after showering, on skin that's still slightly damp.
New to the line?
The Luxury Skincare Set bundles the Lipid Serum and Hyvia® Crème — the treat-and-hydrate core of the routine — and the Cleansing Essentials Set pairs the Oil Cleanser with an enzyme exfoliating powder. Both are a lower-commitment way to learn how your skin responds before building out the full sequence.

Questions people ask
Do I need to use every product, every day?
No. Cleanse, serum, and crème are the daily core. SPF is daily and non-negotiable in the morning. Targeted treatments, masks, and body treatment are add-ins based on what your skin needs that week.
Can I use the Arctigenin Brightening Treatment and Hydrobiome Serum together?
You can alternate nights, but layering both in the same routine is usually unnecessary — pick whichever concern (tone vs. breakouts/microbiome balance) is more active right now.
How long before I see a difference?
Give any new step at least four to six weeks before judging it — skin cell turnover takes time, and swapping products every week makes it impossible to tell what's actually working.
Do I still need SPF if my crème or serum has actives in it?
Yes. None of the Epicutis treatment steps replace sunscreen — Lipid Shield SPF 30 is a separate, dedicated step for a reason.
